If it’s one thing that’s clear in this twenty-first century of ours it’s that we are enamored with ourselves. Otherwise, why would YouTube be so popular? And what makes social media worth millions? What about television game shows where the task at hand for contestants is to answer personal and revealing questions about their lives or even live under the scrutiny of the camera? And even a television station called ID is adept at depicting hundreds of actual criminal cases--in all venues of life, it seems that we are the main content.

A telling article appeared on CNN once about how the incidence of “Googling oneself” has grown exponentially. The study claimed that more Americans were searching online for information about themselves, while many search engine users were also checking out their friends, co-workers, and spouses. And it’s been said that women in particular are more likely to look up information about someone they are dating. Whatever the reasons, we never tire of hearing about our own behavior, our friend’s behavior, or ourselves.

The YOU Files: What Experts Know About You, Your Behavior, and Your Life is a guide to the most significant, remarkable, and surprising discoveries experts have made about us, our lives, and our behavior—inside and out. This blog is based on the subject that we can’t hear too much about, our marvelous, quirky, and sometimes surprising selves, which is examined daily in research efforts by sociologists, poll-takers, market analysts, and human behavior experts.

Not a horoscope, and certainly not pop psychology, these topics are gleaned from over fifty-five thousand studies done each year on how we behave, and written by professionals who make it their business to get glimpses into the ‘mystery of the human soul.’ Millions of dollars of research money, (tax money too), and manpower hours go into examining the minutiae of our lives, if only we could understand it. These material studies are the basis for The YOU Files.

Return often to find out what research has to say about US.
